Monday has arrived and it is going to be a slightly odd week, nothing for you to worry about but, there will be no posting on Friday, instead it will be on Thursday, this is due to a personal and unavoidable issue on my part. This may also mean I might be away from replies and emails for a few days, but hopefully we will be back to normal as soon as possible.
OK. on with today and we are jetting off into the 25th century with the completed version of a piece previewed on Patreon a few weeks ago and as ever our intrepid heroes and Heroines of the space-lanes are in some very gloopy trouble.
I have included both the cover and the limited edition fold out spread version.
There is plenty from Andy and Aunt Jane to come, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy this sticky offering.

For those who study galactic Gastropods and the like, The Universal Slickipedia has this to say on the subject of Larvalous Worms
Christened 'Larvalous Louboutin', after their brilliant glossy red underside, only visible when they are preparing their live prey for total envelopment.
Distinguishing features include an aroma described as a blend of hot tar and burning rubber.
A mucus like excretion with the viscosity of thick molasses, used for lubrication in the consumption of larger prey.This gelatinous excretion is also considered the most potent sexual stimulate in the know universe and is traded secretly throughout all the main star clusters.
It is also noted Larvalous worms do not consume larger sentient lifeforms (usually humanoid) for nutrition. In every study no life forms have ever been digested by any Larvalous. Instead the worm and its "victim" develop a symbiotic relationship. The consumed gaining a constantly high level of sexual stimulant, whilst in turn the worm absorbs the sexual and bodily excretions of the consumed, much as worms on earth consume the rich bio-waste found in soil. Usually this relationship lasts no longer than 3 month before the consumed is once more excreted unharmed.

The distress beacon signals pinged and echoed on the brdige of the starship. What a dilemma for Commander Watson! How to rescue his dear crew members? (Or was that his dear crew and their members?) The attenuated signal indicated that poor Kitka and Stevie were already engulfed. It couldn't t be long before Cadet Holden succumbed too. Maybe they were too inexperienced to be the Away Team for such a perilous mission, but Dr Smythe-Jones had recommended sending them.
ReplyDeleteHis Chief Medical Officer was very clear that if captured, any attempt to release them from Larvalous' slimy womb was likely to endanger the lives of both the officers and their hosts. Once symbiosis started they were going to be trapped for the next 3 months. The officers would become parasites within the Worms whilst providing nutrients to their hosts. He would have to follow the Doc's recommendation: the worms needed to be beamed aboard and held in a secure, isolation unit in the Sick Bay. The Larvalous cycle would be allowed to proceed and the Worms could be returned to their planet when the officers had been excreted. Commander Watson issued the instruction for Security to go to the Transporter room. He was still concerned about bringing such dangerous Alien predators aboard his ship. He opened the channel to the Transporter Room.
"Bridge to Transporter Room. Is the security cage there, Scottie?"
"Aye, Cap'n."
"Have you got lock yet?"
"Weel, Cap'n, we haveny quite. Scanners are still picking up three and half."
"Wait for Cadet Holden to be digested. When it goes down to three, beam them all aboard, and make sure they land inside the security cage, and get them straight to Sick Bay."
"Aye, aye, Cap'n."
"Thanks Scottie. And Scottie.."
"Yes, Cap'n?"
"It's Commander, not Captain."
"Aye, aye Commander."
Dr. Smythe-Jones, or Lady Jane Smyth-Fullerton-Jones to give her full name, left the Bridge and walked slowly to Sick Bay. There was plenty of time. There was three months of time. She would enjoy harvesting the Larvallous slime that would come from the three trapped worms. Slimes that would contain Essence of Kitka, Essence of Stevie, and the one she expected to have the highest value, Essence of Holden. The value would be incalculable. Her colleagues on Doohretsis would really appreciate the supply, although Jane would keep a significant portion for herself. It was fortunate that so few people recognised the true Treasure of El Dorado.
EEEOWWWW Yes that is just what i had in mind, beam them up, it is the quickest way to rescue them, but what is this about the Doc? could there be a little dodgy dealing going on somewhere? In some sectors Larvalous slime is as illegal as Romulan Ale .

DeleteI imagine the Doctor will be running all sorts of tests on the pair to find the most potent, but as Skinnie says, Samantha Holden is the youngest.
We now see the peril of the worms. One crew member completely swallowed. One being readied for swallowing, & the remaining crew member looking on in horror awaiting their turn as well.
